The GentleMaxTM Unveiled - Integrated Aesthetic Treatment System

A new laser is entering the market which may hold great promise to a wider segment of the population with its multiple wavelength design, treatment versatility and ability to optimally treat all skin types.

Not Just for Hair Removal
The newly developed GentleMax laser features both 755nm and 1064 nm wavelengths and may be used to provide permanent hair reduction on all skin types and tanned skin as well as for the treatment of vascular and pigmented lesions, wrinkle reduction and skin tightening. With the introduction of the GentleMax system, it is now possible for one device to do the work of two or more. This evolution in laser treatment promises to offer patients a faster and more effective treatment experience than with merely one laser alone. The GentleMax may be used to treat a variety of skin conditions including:

  • Hair Removal
  • Facial & Leg Veins
  • Fine Lines and Wrinkles
  • Skin Tightening
  • Skin Rejuventation
  • Vascular Lesions
By developing the GentleMax, Candela Corporation of Wayland, MA, has integrated two of aesthetic laser medicine's leading devices, GentleLASE® and GentleYAG®, into a configurable, upgradeable workstation. "GentleLASE® and GentleYAG® are among the most used lasers in my practice - fast, effective and reliable. Having them in a single machine seems to me like a no brainer - the total hair removal solution in one box." commented Dr. Eric Bernstein, Associate Professor of Dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania and Director of the Centers for Cosmetic Laser Surgery.
The GentleLASE is considered by many physicians as one of the leading hair removal lasers on the market today. "I've used most all the other lasers, and I still think it's the best one out there for hair removal" said Dr. Brian Zelickson, Medical Director of Zel Skin and Laser Specialists.
The second element of the GentleMax, Candela's GentleYAG, is also highly popular for hair removal, as well as leg & facial vein removal and skin tightening. Dr. Suzanne Kilmer, Director of the Laser and Skin Surgery Center of Northern California, explains, "One of the exciting observations that we first noticed with the GentleYAG is its ability to treat finer hairs previously untouched by many of the other lasers." Stephen Eubanks, M.D. of the Dermatology and Laser Center at Harvard Park in Denver says "The safety of the variable-pulsed GentleYAG laser has been documented in the removal of hair in all colors of skin. The GentleYAG adds a new method that far surpasses any other treatment modality available."

Now, by combining both the GentleLASE® and GentleYAG®, two of Candela's most widely used and popular devices, the GentleMaxTM by Candela has made treatment for a wider range of patient concerns more readily available.

A Bright Future for Removing Unwanted Hair

Laser technology has developed dramatically over the last 10 years. Even as recently as the mid 90's people interested in improving their skin or removing unwanted hair were limited in their choices. As science has expanded our understanding of heat and light, the power of lasers to treat a variety of cosmetic and medical needs has grown dramatically. From LasikTM to laser hair removal, port-wine stain treatment or even tattoo removal, patients around the world are seeing their problems disappear under a tiny beam of light.

"Initially our understanding of the potential applications of laser was limited, however as new advances have developed, there is seemingly no limit to what we may be able to treat in the future" said Dr. Bernstein. "The number of applications for which laser is suitable has grown tremendously with the explosion of ideas resulting from the greater resources that have been put toward lasers in the last few years. In my opinion, it's only going to get better from here and at a dizzying pace."
